-If you learn to grow, You can feed the world -

Easy to grow seeds

(Our Kit seeds - Speckled Peas, Sunflower, Radish, Broccoli, Kale)
(Kolhrabi, Wheat, Wasabi Mustard, Swiss Chard, Arugula)

1) Prep - Soak these seeds only "sunflower, speckled peas, swiss chard, and optional radish (for a faster cycle)" for 8-12 hours.

2) Prep - Evenly spread out the 700g of soil between all 5 containers. If you have purchased your own soil medium, please fill containers to the first brim closest to the bottom.

3) Prep - Add 250 ml of water to each of the containers and press down the soil to make a flat surface for the seeds.

4) Prep - Add one package of seeds to each individual container, cover the seeds with the lid and lable the container with the type of seed resting on the soil. Drain water used for soaking sunflowers and peas and place the seeds in their desired container. Reversed lid on sunflowers and pea seeds.

5) Day 1 - Date & stack the containers on top of each other (lidded containers will be radish, kale, broccoli; Reverse lid will be sunflower and peas). Stack the peas on top of the sunflowers and the other three containers on top of the peas. This will assist in making the roots grow down into the soil as well as create a dark zone for the seeds. Place containers on the kitchen counter away from light.

Note:

- All plants have hair like roots and on the radishes you'll notice on day 2-3 that there will be a lot of hair like roots growing from the seed. Please note this is not mould. Mould usually takes 10+ days to start growing. If you're using coco coir as your medium please take note that this medium tends to mould out quickly with a hair like mould when growing sunflowers (kind of looks like spider webbing).

6) Day 3-5 - have a look at the plants and see if there are any leaves. Usually on day 3-4 you'll need to uncover the kale, broccoli and radish. You'll probably notice that the peas and sunflowers will be pushing on the underside of the containers. Please leave these two stacked until day 5-6. Once a container is uncovered it's best to place into some sort of sunlight (dining table or kitchen counter, or grow light if you desire).

7) Day 6 - water will now be required by all the plants. Add 250 ml of water to each of the containers slowly to allow the water to soak into all the soil. Water every two days until harvest.

8) Day 8-10 - You'll want to harvest everything except for the sunflowers. Wait until day 14 for the sunflowers. If your'er wanting to keep the growing going a day longer please regulate water as needed, also understand that flavor and texture of the microgreens will change if grown too long (peas and radishes become stringy and loose there sweetness, sunflowers get a very bitter taste, with a squeeky teeth feeling).

9) Harvest - Use clean scissors or a sharp knife and cut abour 1/2" above soil. Package your microgreens in a freezer ziplock bag and place in the fridge. As long as the Microgreens are dry to the touch after harvest they will keep well  in the fridge for about 10 days. If moisture is captured in the bag the microgreens will expire quicker.

Intermediate

(H2O2 Treatment - Dill, Carrots, Cloves, Chicory, Cress, Alfalfa, Fenugreek )

(3-4 week growth - Thyme, Basil)

Please follow same directions as above day 1 - day 14 with a few changes explained here.

Soak

- dill and fenugreek seeds in a 5% food grade hydrogen peroxide for 8 hours.

Spary solutions

Seed solution - 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide (label plastic bottle)

Foliage solution - 0.5% food grade Hydrogen peroxide (label plastic bottle)

Spray the seeds once a day for the first few days and until the first leaves appear. Once the leaves have appeared switch to the foliage spray for a few days.

Lids - must be placed on all the containers, stacked and placed in a warm location and out of direct light (kitchen countertop).

Uncover containers on day 4-5 except basil, please keep basil covered.

Prep - soil, soak, water, flatten soil, seeds, label, date, cover.

Day 1 - Label/date and place out of direct light.

Day 1-3 - Mist seeds morning and night.

Day 4-5 - Mist seeds in the morning and check to see if leaves are touching lid, if so remove lid and place in a location that has indirect sunlight or directly under the grow lights (full spectrum or a LED format of 3 red to 1 blue sequence). Please leave basil covered.

Day 6 - Mist seeds in the morning add 250 ml of water if the soil is looking dry. Please be careful with basil as they probably don't need water until closer to day 10.

Day 7-10  - Mist seeds in the morning. By around day 10 everything should be ready to harvest. Please if extending past day 10 keep an eye on the soil moisture (usually needs 250ml per day by this point).

Day 10- harvest - Mist basil morning and night. Basil is a unique crop and usually harvest is about day 21 but there are a lot of factors in play (light, heat, mositure, possible contaminates - fruit flies pests, mould growth).

Please note:

Basil / Thyme are amazing plants, which are both one of the longest microgreens to grow. We are still trying to find a flawless technique and once we come across it we'll share the knowledge.

<=== Picture on the left shows root hairs. This is the plant root system starting to develop.

==>

Picture on the Right shows a type of mould starting. We call this spider web mould. We suggest you start over and do a hydrogen peroxide treatment to the seeds.
